About The Allentown Chapter, Order of Demolay
OUR STORY
DeMolay International was founded in 1919. Allentown Chapter was chartered in 1926 to help boys in their community. For 100 years, Allentown Chapter, Order of DeMolay has been developing young men into confident leaders where generations of young men have learned the values of leadership, service, and brotherhood. By design, our young men develop life long bonds of friendship and brotherhood.
Our Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in the state. In 2019, Allentown Chapter was the only Chapter in PA to be earn the “Centennial Chapter” designation in Pennsylvania.
WHAT WE DO
We offer two programs to meet young men where they are: Squires for boys aged 9 to 11, and DeMolay for young men aged 12 to 21. Both are built on the same peer-to-peer leadership model that has shaped generations of successful young men.
Our members don’t just learn about leadership, they practice it. They run their own meetings using Robert’s Rules of Order, elect their own officers every six months, and plan, promote, and execute their own events. Every activity is an opportunity to develop public speaking skills, teamwork, and real-world project management, all guided by our dedicated Advisory Council.
OUR BENEFITS
DeMolays are given the opportunity to travel to other Chapters for “visitations” to develop contacts and friendships all over Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
DeMolays enjoy statewide Leadership Weekends that include athletic competitions, leadership workshops, multi-state competitions, and PA DeMolay’s signature week long “Keyman University” in Elizabethtown, PA every summer.
DeMolays also have access to scholarship opportunities for higher education (including trade school) in excess of $100,000.00 per year.
